Buying a House
What to Expect
Congratulations on making the tough decision to buy a new home! This is probably one of the biggest financial decisions of your life, and negotiating your way through the home-buying process is a challenging endeavor. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
You’ll ultimately be making the decisions, but we will be providing you with highly customized coaching and guidance to help you make the best decisions to achieve your goals — something you’ll never get with an automated system, on the internet, or with a less experienced agent. Only with this guidance and knowledge will we, together, be able to negotiate the best terms on your behalf.
You Will Need To:
Arrange for financing
(Assuming you need a loan)
Find the perfect home
Negotiate a purchase agreement
Work through the transactional process
And unfortunately, there are many pitfalls along the way. Unless you are or your agent is truly an expert in ALL of these areas, you may be in jeopardy of costing yourself tens of thousands. A great agent will have several good pieces of advice in each of these areas.

Arming yourself with knowledge and experience is going to be critical to your success. Of course, if you don’t have the knowledge and experience needed, that’s where a good real estate agent comes in. He’ll be an invaluable asset for you throughout the transaction, and if you pick the right one, will pay for himself many times over. He will help negotiate and guide you through the myriad of obstacles you will inevitably face. It may not be readily apparent up front, but at the end of the transaction you will say to yourself, “Wow, I could never have done that without my agent!” … and it will be true.
Choosing A Buyer’s Agent
You have so many options when it comes to choosing a real estate broker to represent you in the purchase of your home. What it boils down to is picking someone who you can trust. And when you think about it, TRUST is made up of two critical elements — competence and character. So instead of using your wife’s brother’s girlfriend’s cousin, you might want to find an experienced broker of high character, along with an unsurpassed level of competence and you’ll know you’ve found the right guy!petence and you’ve found the right guy!
Competence
Does the broker have two+ decades of experience and hundreds of transactions under their belt?
Does your broker have an appraisal background and have an intimate understanding of the valuation and economics of real property?
Does your broker have a construction background? Has he ever built anything? Does he know how to look out for you when it comes to the physical aspects of a home you are considering?
Character
Odds are poor that you meet an agent that admits to you they are of poor character. So instead of us praising ourselves, see what other people are saying about us and about us and about our character.
Property Search
When searching for your next home make sure you find a good balance between searching tight enough criteria so your results aren’t full of inappropriate properties and broad enough criteria so you don’t miss a good opportunity that might be just slightly outside your initial criteria. We always find a way to bridge the gap!
